Rizal Park
Located in the heart of Manila Rizal Park, or Luneta, is one of the most famous and popular attractions in Manila. Not only because of the pride of the National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal, but because of the history you can find there.
The whole area is shaped like a moon, the reason why it's called Luneta.
Luneta has been the place for some of the most significant happenings in Philippine history; the biggest possibly being the execution of Jose Rizal which took place on December 30, 1896. Other historical events include the declaration of Philippine Independence and the political rallies of the 2 past presidents of the country - Ferdinand Marcos and Corazon Aquino.
Continuosly guarded, up until now, you can find the famous last poem of Jose Rizal entitled "Mi Ultimo Adios" here.
Rizal's monument is made of granite and bronze is one of the acclaimed sculptural landmarks in the country.
